I just buy me a bottle of magnesium citrate and that does the trick when I get backed up and it does happen and I do this it I did not move my bowels after 2 days.. Other then that I take Senna 2x and 2 Colace a day and that pretty much does the trick. Constipation still comes during recovery time also. Joe

Hello all. I just wanted to give those of you undergoing chemo a little bit of info regarding the constipation which leads to stomach pain etc...After literally trying everything on the market. What finally worked (although it took a few days to get into the system) was a prescription called: "GLYCOLAX", you take 17grams of the powder and mix it with 8 ounces of almost anything (save grapefruit juice). The good part about it is that it seems to just make you regular without cramping or diarrhea. My husband, and I think being the mother/stepmother of 5 boys, and having 4 brothers and a father and stepfather I can safely say that most men look forward to their "Daily Routine" and my husband was no exception (before all of these treatments that is), but since he was lucky to go once or twice a week. This drug has given him is "Newspaper Mornings" back. Believe me when you can find SOMETHING that makes you feel "Normal" even if it is just "Library Time" in the bathroom, it gives a fresh outlook on the rest of the day. There is something to be said for being "Regular".

After a few days his stomach pain is VERY minimal. And he is feeling overall so much better. He is even taking less pain meds. He feels so good he may be coming with me and the kids trick-or-treating tonight. Just wanted someone else out there to have this information if you are struggling with this problem also. No guarantees it will work the same for you but when you can't go, anything is better than stomach cramps, and possible hemorrhoids when so much else is already going on.

It may also work for patients after Bladder Removal Surgery, but that should be discussed with your Dr. as you should always.

Keep it Flowing,
Karen
