I'm a little confused on how many scans have been done...and have they been CT scans or PET/CT scans which offer a 3 dimentional view...or have both been used?
Margin of error usually comes in the form of the radiologist who reads the scan.
(its happened to me).........Pat

Ok here goes........

8:30 AM My Husband and I drop daughter off at school.
9:00 arrive at hospital for CT Scan/Check-in
9:30 He drinks 2 cups of lemon-lime syrup
10:00 He goes in for scan
10:30 scan over
12:30 preliminary results look like the cancer is stable except in one node.
3:00 results look like the preliminary report was correct.
CHEMO cancelled for tomorrow, will get another consult in the PM with DR. to decide how to proceed.
3:30 My husband takes a nap, and then I realize that the CT Scan that they are comparing it to was done in JUNE!!!
That is a full 2 MONTHS BEFORE THE CHEMO STARTED!! WTF!!!

I call the hopital back and speak to the assistant again and DEMANDED ANOTHER BONE SCAN and Tomorrow I am requesting that the DR.'s assistant is NOT to give us results. I want them from the Dr. only!!! Why would she tell us anything without looking at what SHE was comparing. This isn't a dispute with a Target receipt at customer service. This is my husbands LIFE again WTF!!!

I told her she had no business making calls like that if she didn't even consult with the DR. first! She also could not tell me what if any is the margin of error in the CT Scan since they were done at different hospitals, on different machines, with different TECH's...

A word of warning to everyone. You have to check and re-check all information you receive. Question every test, every prescription. everything. Do not take for granted that just because someone is a medical professional, that they are fail proof.

I am HOPPING Mad this evening, and GLAD the the Cancer really hasn't progressed at the same time. If I didn't question the time frame between the scans, the treatments would have probably stopped, or they would have changed CHEMO Drugs. Right now we are trying to decide whether to get things together to take to Forsyth Medical Center, and then on to DUKE. I want them to re-check everything now!

Be your own DR!

Karen

OK...Now after venting....I am very Thankful that it looks as though the cancer has basically stopped in its tracks so far. This is just a WILD ROLLER COASTER RIDE!!!

GOD IS GOOD!!!
