The biggest fear is almost always caused by not knowing. When you get together with your oncologist and formulate a strategy, you'll feel incredibly relieved. It's a lot easier to fight something when you have both knowledge and a plan.

That being said, I remember driving home from work a few days after being diagnosed with tears rolling down my face, so I remember exactly how you feel. You probably feel even worse and more helpless than your husband.

All I can really tell you with certainty is that you'll feel better in time. I had my surgery last June, and finished chemo in late December. Our lives got back to normal fairly quickly after that. Now, a year after everything seemed to collapse, we're doing great.

It's something you'll get through.

I can't stress the importance of a positive and optimistic attitude too much. And remember it's a lot easier to maintain your attitude than to regain it, so be very vigilant about what you're thinking and saying. It's really the one thing you have control over. It's not easy, but you can do it. You have to.

Best thoughts and wishes,

Zach

Hello everyone! I am looking for some hope here! My husband went to North Carolina from Florida to try to get a better job, (we are having a very hard time financially at present) the "Plan" was he would work there for a month or 2 and when we saved enough money I would move there with our 3 and 7 yr. old. He was having some pain when urinating, and a small amount of blood in his urine, his FL Dr. put him on antibiotics, called it a bladder infection, and he was on his way to NC. On Fathers Day (horrible anyway since we were not together) he went to the ER with severe pain and was unable to urinate. He was taken to surgery, and a very "Vascular" tumor was removed from his bladder. After waiting a few days, the diagnosis was Bladder Cancer. He had a CT scan which shows a ping pong ball sized tumor in a Lymph Node in the Pelvis, he was scheduled for a biopsy, which showed that the Cancer has spread. He lost a total of 4 units of blood before/during/after surgery. He was given a Transfusion of 2 units and left the hospital to await the results of what kind of cancer it is. The Urologist sent the specimens to Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, NC. His next appointment is on July 9th, and he will meet with an oncologist at Wake Forest on the 26th. We are beyond scared. The urine is all clear a week later, minor pain urinating. He is scheduled to meet a Dr. Frank Torti (oncologist) at Baptist (Wake Forest U) Has anyone ever heard of him? What do we expect next? What is the REALISTIC ??? ??? prognosis?

Caregiver for my Wonderful Husband Angelo, who has Metastatic Bladder Cancer.
