Thank you. I have a feeling his liver isn't metabolizing the pain medication the way it should be - with the cancer having spread to his liver. I spoke to a nurse and she said it's more likely the Tylenol in the oxy vs the methadone. We teaked his meds a bit - he's going back to morphine vs oxy for breakthrough. I hope to see a difference soon.

Meadow, I am so sorry your Father and family are going through this. For some immunotherapy has been effective but not all. It sounds like it is time for a talk with your fathers doctors about the best course forward for your father. They would know if your father would quality or benefit from any potentially avalible clinical trials. Another subject you should discuss is the advisability, timing and benefits of hospice. If needed it can offer help in pain control, other compfort measure and dignity.
As for drug reactions they can be unique to each individual so you also need to advise the prescribing physician.
I wish I could be of more help but know we are here listening if you need to talk.

My dad has stage IV bladder cancer that has spread to his liver, lungs and urethra. His bladder and prostate was removed in 2015. Urethra was removed 2 years later in December 2017. He is in constant pain and there are several tumors near his private area. He had 2 rounds of radiation and 5 rounds of immunotherapy. Treatments are not working.

He is taking methadone 3 times a day and OxyContin for breakthrough pain. The pain is still not under control and he is having hallucinations from the medication. Has anyone else experienced this? Has anyone else found Keytruda non-effective? Any advice on any sort of clinic trial? We are desperate!
