Stage4 non-muscle invasion bladder cancer

I have Stage IV invasive BC that went to the lymph nodes. Had four rounds of Ifosfamide/Gemzar/Doxorubicin followed by two rounds Cisplatin/Gemzar (which overwhelmed my bone marrow and gave me ringing in my ears)

My lymph nodes were in complete remission after round 4 and my recent cystoscopy revealed nothing new growing so I am scheduled for radical cystectomy 8/30.

Just curious, but stage IV bladder cancer is invasive and defined as "Patients with stage IV bladder cancer have cancer that has extended through the bladder wall and invaded the pelvic and/or abdominal wall and/or has lymph node involvement and/or spread to distant sites." To extend beyond the bladder wall means that the cancer went through the muscle tissue of the bladder. T2 cancer means that the cancer has spread into the muscle layer of the bladder. In T3, the cancer has spread to the next layer, perivesical tissue.

My question is, how are diagnosed with T4 if the cancer has not penetrated the different layers of your bladder?? Did it travel elsewhere before it invaded all the layers??

Good luck and keep us posted!!!

I have stage 4 bladder cancer. I still have my bladder and did not have BCG. I had 15 sessions of radiation for the Paraspinal tumor. I am in my 5th round of Chemo (cisplatin and Gemzar ). I will be starting my 6th and final round on the 26th. Biopsy of bladder tumors showed high grade T1 and CIS. No bladder invasion. My recent pet scans have shown no new cancer growth and reduction in my Paraspinal/pelvic tumor. Anyone out there in a similar situatIon?
