That is how it happened with me the first time I had chemo. It all works out in the end even though you have a delay once in a while. My "maintenance" chemo regimen is 2 weeks on and one week off so hopefully I will be able to withstand that schedule.
I know the transfusion nmade you feel great. It's amazing the difference it nmakes.
I anm thinking of you and hoping for an easy round this time.
Blessings....Jeanb

Sounds like they needed to put in a dip stick instead of a port, think how convenient that would be let alone the time saved on trips to the lab. I know how chemo gets after awhile I did 20 trips to infusion. It is all about getting to where you need to be one step at a time isn't it? Hang in there I and just know that I am deliberately not bugging you, what it does not mean is that I am not thinking of you.

Was supposed to start my final regular chemo cycle today but I'm sitting here getting my blood transfusion again. Two pints low again. All of my other lab work was great except for hemoglobin and platelets.

Blood cells last about 60 days and then die off and are replenished by new blood cells. Chemo interferes with the production of new blood cells by the bone marrow. They gave me a shot of Neulasta a couple of weeks ago and that boosts the white blood cell production but not red.

So...hopefully, next week I start my last chemo cycle before going on the every 3 weeks maintenance cycle with the study drug or placebo.
