Some surprising developments

The week off raised my platelets a lot so I was able to have my chemo today. I feel a little tired but it went well. I got very sick over the past weekend but they think I had a touch of the flu because it came and went very quickly so I am hoping for the best.

Mike..If there is anything I can help you with please give me a shout. This cancer is just not fair sometimes but we are fortunate that they have the chemo drugs to make us better. Just keep adjusting your sails and give yourself a break. You will know when you will feel well and also when you are not so you will adjust your schedule and amazingly it all happens. I will keep you in my prayers and we can keep an eye on each other.
Use all the support at your disposal and don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it.

Wow! It looks like I may be following in your footsteps. I started back at the beginning of this thread from a year and four months ago. Mine just came back in my kidney and some lymph nodes so I will be starting chemo soon. You were almost to five years cancer free when yours came back and it is the same for me.

Your posts have been educational and inspirational for me so I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for posting them. Like you, I am adjusting my sails. I still love that quote and the reminder comes at a perfect time.

I've made notes about the hydration to be sure that I do this right and hopefully can avoid some of the pitfalls you had along the way. If I hit them though (e.g. having to be in a rehab facility to gain strength) I hope to follow your example and work through them with the grace and poise that you have!

I had another ct.scan in January and the mets had not enlarged in the liver but there are two lymph nodes Dr. Magnifico doesn't like the looks of. I have started chemo again but this time only Gemzar. I was supposed to have 3 weeks of Gemzar and 1 week off for two months but after two rounds my platelets were too low for the third so I am "chilling" and building up my platelets for March. Dr.is pretty confident that we can keep this under control and I have complete faith in his judgement.As usual my children have all rallied around and they give me the courage to get through the hard days.
