Had a meeting with Dr. Hurwitz, oncologist at Yale-New Haven, on Tuesday to discuss my chemo program, which is to begin in two weeks.
He has some concerns about my kidney function (I have low GFR and poor creatinine clearance) as this can affect the available chemo options. He would like to use MCV (methotrexate, cisplatin, and vinplastin). May have to swap carboplatin for the cisplatin as the latter is tough on the kidneys.
But worse, when he got the CT scans of my abdomen and chest, he found two affected lymph nodes. Because of that, he recommends against surgery after chemo. Obviously need to do some research on that, but his arguments were pretty persuasive.
As for now, I feel as if I have been gob-smacked, as my English friends put it.
