well thats good news Nicola. There is a new drug out there that has just gone through Phase 111 trials for renal cell cancer but is in trials for metastatic TCC here and results have been pretty spectacular....Here's the UK approval on renal cell. Its called Pazopanib or Votrient
www.nelm.nhs.uk/en/NeLM-Area/News/2010---July/02/Pazopanib-Votrient-now-available-in-the-UK-for-the-treatment-of-advanced-renal-cell-carcinoma/
Now read this
www.news-medical.net/?tag=/Pazopanib
Might ask your oncologist what he thinks??

Just a little update, dad had scan and seems that cancer has gone so small they can't see it he has been offered his bladder out but he has some nodes high up in his chest they can't get to so they are going to give him radiotherapy docs have said don't know when it will return could be 2 months or 5 years! They are still going to treat as palliative because of the nodes I am just so glad it has given my parents a little breather to start to do things as the last 6 months have been hell! Thankyou to everyone who has answered my questions and given support as I am sure to be asking a few more as the journey continues thanks again nicola
