Thank you all for your kind words. I could not have made it through the last two years without all of you and your support. It has really been invaluable. Tomorrow is the services and it will be difficult but I do take comfort in knowing that he is at peace and no longer in pain. It has been a long journey that has led him to a better place and I know in my heart that my baby will now have an extra special guardian angel.

Melissa, Please know that much love and many thoughts and prayers are being sent out to you and your family. I'm glad that your mother was able to have the closure of being there when your father left this world. Take comfort in the memories of your Dad and share those memories and love with the little one you will soon bring into this world.

I cannot express the sorrow I feel for you. Your Dad is at peace and all of you have the sorrow of being left behind.

At this time of loss, I think of the lyrics to a Garth Brooks song:

Yes, my life, Is better left to chance,
I could have missed the pain,
But, I'd have had to miss...the Dance.

I hope your memories of your father were of How Well He Lived
Not, What took his life.
He sounds like a man who was loved....... And that is the greatest of all of life's gifts.

I join many others here in sending my condolences to you and your family. Also like others, I've been following your posts since the beginning, and remember your happiness that your father was well enough to be with you to celebrate your wedding. I'm sure you must feel sorrow that your dad will not still be with you in body at the time of the birth of your child, but he will be with you in spirit. My dad passed away (of lung cancer) on the same day as my brother's son was born, which is also my birthday, a maternal uncle's birthday, and the day my maternal grandfather passed away (which was on my 21st birthday).

It's so very thoughtful that your family has requested donations here, and I'm sure whatever is given will be put to excellent use.
