My father has been in hospice for almost a week now. He is not able to come home and be cared for there so it is very sad to think that this is it. He is pretty sedated but has brief moments of lucidity. He has not asked what is going on which leads me to think that maybe he knows, or is too drugged up to realize. He has said some strange things about seeing people in the room that aren't there...could be the meds though. We are all trying to be strong. He is drinking water but not eating solid foods, just some ice cream here and there. This whole situation seems surreal.

Mel,I know being a mom how your Mother must worry for you,but if you feel you need to go and it is not to far then you should
go to see your Dad. It has to be your decision so that you can have peace. If you feel that you should stay home then that is what you should do. Your the only one that knows what is best for you and your baby in the long run.

Mel i'm so very sorry....is there possibly another hospice group that would let you take him home? If you had a hospital bed and a nurse would that not be an option?
I know your mother is worried about you but you have to follow your heart...the angels will be with all of you. And one day you will see a smile, a certain look or gesture from your new bundle of joy and you'll know your father is still with you.
