Hi Doug,

I have also been reading about RF Ablationa and am curious to see if anyone has any thoughts on it.

i had the same thing happen with an old scar on the lungs.....everytime they see it a red flag goes up but i always have the same radiologist read the CT or X-ray and its never changed.
As for the bone cancer..have they done a needle biopsy?

Vertebroplasty
The spine is one of the most common sites of metastasis. Vertebral bodies involved by the tumor may become painful and may eventually fracture. Surgical intervention with reconstruction of the spinal column is indicated only if the tumor causes compression of the spinal cord or instability of the spine. Vertebroplasty is an outpatient procedure performed using conscious sedation. An interventional radiologist inserts a needle through a small incision in the back, directing it under fluoroscopy (continuous, moving X-ray imaging) into the fractured vertebra. The physician then injects a medical-grade bone cement into the vertebra. The cement hardens within about 15 minutes and stabilizes the fracture. This treatment reduces pain, prevents further collapse of the vertebra, and restores mobility. Vertebroplasty dramatically improves back pain within hours of the procedure, provides long-term pain relief and has a low complication rate, as demonstrated in multiple studies

I know there are trials out there with gene therapy also....i must look into that.
I wish you the best Doug.

Received a call from my surgeon last week and he said after reviewing my CAT scan with the radiologist, they think the spot on my lung is an old one and not related to the cancer. He then confirmed that the cancer has spread to the vertebrea in my back.

I am beginning to have pain in my lower back (which I have had since the first day I got home from the RC) and am taking one half a Vicodin ES twice daily. That small doze seems to calm the pain, at least for the time being.

I have done much reading and found several articles on using radio frequency ablation as treatment for bone cancer. Has anyone else had any experience with ablation for cancer?

I am also looking for another opinion, and would like to know all the treatment options I may still have.

Thanks for any and all info..
