hyponatremia and lung tumor?

Well there are different types of hyponatremia and a complete history and blood work and urinalysis certainly need to be done to determine which type or if its in conjunction with some other disease. But from what you have said of your mother she drinks an inordinate amount of water and also does lots of back breaking work out in the sun which would cause excessive sweating. The confusion and irritability you have been witnessing is surely a symptom of this.
a really good internist should be able to perform these tests or at least recommend a specialist to monitor this. There are so many things that can cause this from underlying disease, renal disfunction, to just drinking too much and sweating too much.

Hope this finds everyone well. I have a few question's for the experts Mama's sodium level was 127. From what I have read this is in the severe range. She was given salt tablets and put on a liquid restriction. First of all, shouldn't this be closely monitored? I read (and was told lst time this happened)that increasing her sodium TOO quickly could cause further problems, and also if it drops a couple more "points" it falss into the dangerous level. SHe is not scheduled to go back to have it re-checked??? Second, I have also read (sometimes the internet is my enemyB) that hyponatremia can be indicative of a lung tumor. Anyone know much about this? Is it only a primary lung tumor or also a mestastatic lung tumor? I know it sounds like I have little faith in the doc and in fact I don't.
