Julie, I'm sorry I'm so far behind in your posts! The lexapro is great stuff.....I'm on it myself, as is my husband. We've had to adjust his dosages over the past few months, but I can't imagine him without it. It just takes time to build up in Dick's system. I hope he's better by the time I've read this.

My husband is also on a kind of Xanax that is timed release, and just added gabapentin, as an elevator and pain control. I kept asking the doctors about adding it, and they kept ignoring me, until I found a doctor who would try it. The help was almost immediate.

I hope the pain specialist was a BIG help to you both.

And keep up the swimming. You might think about adding a regular massage for yourself, too. The massage therapist can tell you what muscles need work during your workout, and help you relax.

Thanks everyone for letting me know that the full feeling and nausea is common to people on narcotics. He already is on Protonix and takes 2 stool softeners and 2 senna twice a day. This serves to keep things moving. He sees the pain doc tomorrow so we will ask what might help. I'm hoping the Lexapro will help.

My test results were about the same as usual. My cholesterol is above 200 but triglicerides and LDL is in normal range. They used to be higher. Plus blood glucose was 113 and they want it under a 100. The answer is the same "exercise." Since we have a swimming pool a block away I will try to swim 3 times a week. When I got home from seeing the Dr. Dick was up, dressed and at the kitchen table. He ate a good breakfast but i expect he won't eat much the rest of the day. Julie

It never fails that when my husband is on pain meds he gets the "full" feeling and it makes him extremely uncomfortable. He usually is prescribed Vicodin or Percocet and I have finally learned to give me a Colace with his pain med. We used to wait to see if he would get the full/backed up feeling but we don't wait until it is a problem. We nip it in the bud now and it seems to work great for him.

Bob is on protonix morning and night now. Takes Reglan 30 min. before each meal and at bedtime.
Has Zofran as needed but has not used it since he started taking the protonix twice aday. When he left the hospital, they had told him to take it in the morning and he continued to get sick.

any opiate can cause nausea which puts you between the proverbial rock and hard place. And then they give you something to combat the nausea which makes you lethargic........and on and on. Holly can't remember if you're on oxycontin or oxycodone?
