Flo,

I totally get where you are coming from!!! LOL....Did you explain it to them? Oh my is that funny!!!

I think my parents paid $30,000 in 1960 for a vacation house...and that was on the beach!

Flo...this is interesting..as Avastin is made by Genentech. It is usually supplied free of charge by the company in trials...key word..trials. Avastin has not been approved for bladder cancer yet...it has for colon, small lung cancer, and something else i can't remember. SO...my question is....how are they getting the drug if they're not approved to use it for blc?........Maybe contact Genentech and see where they ARE doing trials of the drug.

Hi, all.

I was having a bit of a chuckle today and wanted to share it.

As you know, my dad decided this week not to try Avastin. I strongly believe their minds were shut to that option as soon as the doctor mentioned the figure "$30,000". Specifically, the doctor explained that insurance does not cover it, it costs $30,000 per treatment, but that they have a good relationship with the drug company, which will generally provide the drug without charge if rejected by the insurance company, etc., etc.

Well, I will guarantee you my parents heard nothing after the word "$30,000".

I'm thinking, "Don't those people know anything about my parents' generation? My parents would never spend $30,000 on ANYTHING they couldn't drive or live in. My parents probably didn't spend $30,000 on their house (although this was in 1960)! My mom will not throw away a Dixie cup until she has used it at least 4 times, and my dad takes milk of magnesia which expired 25 years ago because he figures its still good. I can just picture their faces: $30,000? Okay, we're done here, thank you very much."
