In earlier posts I negected to say that although Zometa does promote healthy bone growth, it does nothing to the cancer that is already there. It is more pallative in that it helps to reduce the risk of fractures...

Susan,

Yes it is the news we needed.

I have to say that making sure that you keep up on all other health issues even while dealing with the cancer is so important. Keep your primary Dr. and schedule appointments monthly. They can keep track of the other issues while you continue your battle with the cancer. I know Dr.'s visits are a pain, but we either make our appointments the very first of the day, or the very last. Never after 9:00 am, and never before 3:00 pm. We get in and out so much quicker this way.

We are trying to make sure that all the focus is on the cancer, and by keeping all other issues under control, we can.

Thanks for your thoughts, and I will let you know what they come up with as far a dosages/combinations for chemo.

I am wishing you well on your journey as well. Take the flight for another opinion Susan, and schedule a few fun things to do while you are there. That way the insurance company is not only paying for a consult, but a mini vacation as well! LOL...(Always looking for the silver lining....)

Karen -- I'm happy for you and your family over these encouraging developments.
A perfectly normal metabolic profile!! I have heard good things about Zometa from
fellow patient-survivors in infusion rooms. I know you'll keep us informed about the chemotherapy choices in addition to taxol. Sending smiles -- Susan (mssmr)

Hi Julie,

Zometa is for Bone Mets. It helps to restore normal bone growth. We are really hoping for good results in combination with the Chemo...I will keep updating!

Thank you all for your positive posts and well wishes.
