Dear Ian,
While i can assure you from my personal experience that a urethral stricture is no fun, we can manage with it - you and me. You're in so much pain and sore now, but it may very well be that once this heals there will not be a stricture. Right now you most likely have swelling at the urethral opening from their mangling it with whatever they did, but if the injury is primarily at the tip, hopefuly they can make sure it heals without a stricture, or monitor it easily enough and open it.
