Stitch found during bladder cleanse

Hello Patricia and Zachary,

Yes I was also worried for infection...luckily I was already halfway through an antibiotic course for a bladder infection.

I mentioned the stitch problem to my new Urologist recently and he said that it can happen and that is why he does not advise a bladder cleanse with a catheter unlike my original urologist whom performed the RC.

I am also very pleased I pulled a stitch out instead of a staple.... :P

So I came away very happy that I no longer have to use a catheter for a bladder cleanse.

I have noticed though when I eat too much dairy I have more of a problem with urination and have to push hard sometimes to release the urine because of a build up of the mucus.

Kind Regards
Leigh

Interesting.... haven't heard of that. Once my catheter was removed that was it for irrigation.

Do follow Pat's advice--just to be on the safe side.

On my last follow-up, I was sitting next to a guy in the waiting room who had his RC five or six years ago. He told me that earlier this year, he actually passed a *staple*. During my exam, I told Dr. Stein how happy I was not to have any staples that might come loose. Rude surprise--he told me that I have *plenty* of staples inside me--and that they occasionally do come out.

Usually by the time they come out, they're like pearls--coated with a protective stuff our bodies make. But still, that wasn't what I wanted to hear.

Dear Forum,

I presently rinse my bladder with salt solution once a week advised by my Urologist.

Today I had trouble getting my catheter to enter my bladder....after a little persuasion I finally pushed on through. After I had completed the cleanse I started to retract the cathether and I felt something scrapping my uretha.

Once the catheter was removed I could see attached to the end lodged in one of the holes a stitch. It felt pretty hard to touch and each of the three strands making up the stitch was approximately a centimeter in length.

Well as you can imagine they must have used loads of disolvable stitches to get the new bladder urine tight. I just was never warned about this by anyone at the hospital. I had a certain amount of pain and bloody urine yesterday which is under control now.

Has anyone else had this experience when cleansing the bladder, my RC was performed with open incision three and a half months ago.

Thanks
Leigh
