Bingo,, theres some good comments here, that was my point in addressing the caregiver issue Eileen brought up, I meant it as a positive subject. In my house were having a little caregiver patient confrontation. I enjoy when out and about seeing young husbands at the grocery with little babies, dual households, my generation was divided, the moms did the caregiving, the husbands went to work.Like Pat I get a kick out of seeing my son take Ryan 5 and brother Carter 1 and a half to the zoo for the day, while wife Suzie is at work.He is a multi tasker..
Back to the subject of emotional needs of the caregiver, it may sound like I am beating a dead horse but the lenghth of this journey can make one aggravated. For those who have parents in there 60's going thru this I can suggest a day out with mom, take dad for a ride let mom be home by herself without a shadow, put a basket of goodies together for them, but remember mom or dad may not always be ,,THERE HAPPY SELF"I had a message from Dar today, she talked exactly about the things I am beating to death. The daily talk of their body situations, it goes like this,I wonder what time I will poop today, I think I like the convex pouch better, glad my balls aren't swollen any more, my leaking stopped, THATS THE BEST NEWS YET, NO MORE DEPENDS!!!TODAYS REVELATION.
I have a new solution, ear plugs,, there only 1.99. Eileens point is well taken, do ask how they are, they need to vent!! Expect a wide range of answers, and listen. As we have issues too. So I am happy she brought it up!\And Rick, get busy and clean those bathrooms.`
