T2G3 Female, Indiana Pouch VS. Neobladder I have to decide

16 years 5 months ago #9263 by Patricia
Hi Lizt....No i did not have to have any chemo before or after as all lymph nodes were clear....I also had T2 but at the time grading was different and i was Grade 2...today that would probably mean i would undergo chemo?? Who knows. I was also muscular invasive but i also had one of the top uro/surgeons in the world do my second TURB and got all of the cancer that had just started invading the bladder muscle...at least thats what the pathologist wrote.
I'm curious as to why you decided on a clinical trial?
Holly answered you on another site where you also posted...i hope you saw her post?

Gene,
Yes I am the person that received the crib from you. Thank you very much! With 2 grandkids now, we need 2 cribs. What a small world! How is your husband? Well I hope!
Gene, I read earlier today that you told someone to view your posting's 1-5 on what to expect day of surgery, but I could not find a way to view your postings, can you talk me thru it?

Pat,
My first visit with Dr.Gong was 9/28, I hardly remember everything he said (it was a lot 1 1/2hrs). I do remember discussing the neobladder, and the Indiana pouch, but I cannot recall him leaning either way. I do not recall him saying if he would do conventional or laproscopic.
I see him again on 11/9, I guess that is when I ask all these kinds of questions?

Did you go to the Taussig Cancer Center? Who was your oncologist? Did you have treatment b/4 surg or after? Has anyone ever given go a prognosis? I keep having people ask me what my prognosis is and I simply do not know. I don't recall anyone ever telling me this information.

There is so much to grasp and I feel very confused to say the least.

Just read Marigolds reply and it is possible for them to change diversions if they see cancer in the urethra..however urothelial carcinoma is the most common type of bladder cancer and does not neccesarily mean its in the urethra unless they found it there during a TURB or scan....but sometimes i guess there can be surprises. Hi,
My husband had his surgery Sept. 14th, actually I think I know you, did I give you a crib, this is odd, but I gave the info for the site to a friend of a friend, is it you? His wife just got diagnosed. Anyway, your in a good place, the Cleveland Clinic, Pat knows everything about getting it done there. She can really help you.
