T2G3 Female, Indiana Pouch VS. Neobladder I have to decide

I also had my surgery at The Cleveland Clinic by Dr. Inderbir Gill who specializes in laproscopic removal..he's also head of the transplant division.
I think you're at a good age to consider the neo-bladder but more importantly is to ask Dr. Gong how many neo's he's done on women. Women are particularly difficult because we have a shorter urethra and percentages show that hypercontinence is one of the complications and you end up having to cath in an area difficult to see. Holly on our forum had a successful neo put in at The Mayo Clinic by a highly skilled surgeon.
What does Dr. Gong recommend? Is he going to do conventional, laproscopic, or robot assisted as i know he does all three...but the laproscopic and robot assisted may be for only prostate surgery.
Cleveland Clinic certainly has world class urologists and surgeons so you're at a great facility. Its a subject i would certainly discuss with Dr. Gong bearing in mind that they all want to do a neo on women. I would ask for a list of women he has done neo's on and contact them..thats what i did.
If you should decide on an Indiana Pouch i can help you with that as that ended up my choice. Pat

I am very surprised that you have the option of the neobladder with urothelial carcinoma. I had been scheduled for a neobladder which was changed to a pouch during surgery precisely because there was cancer in my urethra and they feared that I would be incontinent with the neobladder. I am very satisfied with my pouch. My stoma is in my belly button.

I am a 41 years old female, diagnosed 9/13/07 with invasive high grade urothelia carcinoma with invasion to the muscularis propra. T2bG3
I am going to the Cleveland Clinic and am currently participating in a clinical trial(at the Taussig Cancer Ctr), where as instead of traditional chemo b/4 surgery I am taking a pill called Sutent daily for 28 days then surgery around day 42. I am on day 19 and my surgery is scheduled for 11/15/07. My urosurgeon is Dr. Michael Gong.

I now have to decide between the Indiana Pouch and the Neobladder. Because of my age I am leaning toward the Neo, but after reading stories from the 'trenches' I'm now not sure.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.
