Dar congratulations on being home and a successful surgery. Can you tell me some more about the bowel obstruction? Did they put in a Nasal Gastric tube for a couple of days to see if it would correct itself? Was the CT scan definative in any way. Reason i ask is this appears to be a common complication and Zachary told me that his surgeon Dr. John Stein at USC/Norris feels most of these correct themselves with using the NG tube. I'm just curious as to the explanation......Thanks and i'm so glad Harry has rhythm again!! :D Pat

After several surgery complications my husband Ron was released from M D Anderson Cancer Center in Houston on 10/12/07 and is doing so well. The surgery to remove his bladder, prostate and lymph nodes was 7.5 hours long and went without complications. Ron has had 2 previous heart attack, with low enjection fraction, and the length of surgery was a real concern. Unfortunately, on day #3 his heart started having rythem problems and his defibrillator shocked him 45 times before the doctor with the St Jude equipment could disarm it. The next morning he was a celebrity. All the medical personnel seemed to know he was the man who was shocked 45 times. He was in ICU for 3 days until they got his heart back in rythem. Then he ended up with a bowel obstruction, hence the long hospital stay. The bowel obstruction cleared itself with no additional surgery, thank goodness. Dr Dinney, the head of urology, was our surgeon and he did a great job with the surgery and care. M D Anderson was a wonderful hospital and we couldn't have asked for better care. The pathology report came back clear of cancer and no chemo will be needed. We were so blessed with the outcome. He is getting better everyday and I am shocked at how quickly he has improved.

I want to thank all that helped answer my questions over the last few months. It made the whole thing so much easier to live with. This site really helped us. Thanks again. I know we will have additional questions, but at the momement we are doing great.
