Ginger..the numbness is pretty normal...most or all of that will go away. I still have an area about the size of a 50 cent piece thats completely void of feeling on my upper thigh at the groin intersection. I hope the PT can do some good today for you.
I have no idea about the weight loss...i lost about 20lbs while in the hospital and it was very difficult for me to regain my weight ..it took about a year to get back to my fighting weight...boy i miss those hot fudge sundaes!! Pat

We seem to be battling two issues not expected at this point. The leg is very disturbing, numbness in the groin area where the leg meets the groin. The pain is continuous so is hampering the excercising and mental attitude. Sort of a 'whats this shit ''after getting along so well after surgery. Gene has lost 12 pounds since he is home. One pound per day. The confusing thing is he is eating, normally. He is 155 at present. We go for another follow-up Oct.15th, kidney ultrasound, this is a requirement of the Doctor, then we visit him. I called his nurse yesterday, again aout the leg, and the weight loss. She said to keep an eye out on the weight, as if he is eating and still losing we will have to address it. This is a little scary to me. He does not stay down all day, he is walking the drive and is up and about, but the pain keeps him from sleeping. Today a Physical therapist is coming from the Cleveland Clinic. We will see what he says, or does. Next step nuerology??? I should make it clear, his pain is from the groin down the leg involving the knee as well....I, a person with a sense of humor that got me thru the whole summer and the surgery find nothing funny about seeing my husband looking skeleton like. If he had C-diff, a bowel infection ,I wouldn't be so concerned as that would make it reasonable. But he doesn't have that at this point. It makes sense to have aches and pains after surgery, this is different..we will get to the bottom of this , so I will press on and get answers..UPDATE
The physical therapist just left. He says the nerve involved is the main nerve that goes from the inside of your leg, in the groin , it controls all the nerves and muscles in that area. He will pass on his report to Dr. Campbell, a nuerologist will be consulted to see what different med's can be taken for this type nerve problem. Then how to fix the problem. I feel better seeing him test Gene's mobility and identifying the source. Atleast we know it is of concern.
