Hi
Like you I am just over a year since RC I have and check up appointment every three months which involves blood tests and a scan.My consultant is keen to continue that frequently up to two years as thats when the greatest risk of the cancer coming back is.I do think it depends though on your doctor the grade of cancer and stage but if your worried ring your doctors secretary they seem to be the font of all knowledge.
Take care Claire x

Hey sarah

Im in Bristol and my Im coming up to a year after RC/neobladder. Im having yearly cystoscopies and, I think, 6 monthly ultrasound. but also seem to have a consulation and bloods taken every 3 or 4 months. This is for, amongst other things, kidney function and PSA because of my prostrate pathology at surgery. I have to admit that my schedules have seemed a lot more relaxed since surgery but broadly follow the above.I had a cystoscopy on 14 oct and am back for that in a year.

The agreed interval between appointments seems to shift a bit. It also seems to change over time. I take a relaxed approach to it now but never missed an appointment between cystos pre-cystectomy. If I thought an appt was due id be on the phone. now I just wait for the appointments to come through unless I get anything weird going on.

I can't speak for the UK, but I just had my one-year-post-RC followup, and asked my doctor what my future schedule will be.

It's once every six months for five years, then once a year after that.

I'd advise you to ask what your upcoming schedule is and make the appointments yourself. That way you aren't going to get lost in the shuffle, which, unfortunately, is all to easy.

Hi

This is a question for UK based RC patients. Can anyone tell me what the check-up schedule should be? I am 15 months post RC - last checks were in July. Still haven't had my next appointment sent - hope someone can advise
Thanks
Sarah
