Hi Rosemary,

I plan on telling him next appointment.

I would think anytime you have surgery you risk having adhesions.

It’s between the hip and the lower rib cage covers the front to the back.

I don’t think its adhesions as it wouldn’t go away and return about the same time.

I’m thinking Patricia hit it on the head.

Changing from lying down to sitting removes the pain until next time.

I’m walking weather permitting a mile or more a day.

As you remember I had a heck of time getting the bowels to work like normal still not 100% but I can at least go everyday now.

Jeff,

I think you should at least mention this to the Doctor next time you see him.

Can you get bowel adhesions from an RC???? Is the pain in the hip area? I know if I lay too long on one side, I get a sharp pain in my hip that is only relieved by moving around.

However, when you described your pain, I thought of gas immediately. ;D

You just never know.

Are you getting good exercise, Jeff?

Your friend,
Rosemary

Waited until my wife came home to be sure what I’m saying is correct.
She had Hysterectomy many years ago 3 years after they found scare tissue that closed off the small intestine. So it sure can happen after surgery.

"i figure the transverse colon making the turn to the decending colon gets bunched up at that juncture thus the pain.........thats what it feels like anyway and i sure my theory will get great guffaws from the surgeons. "

I think you’re on to something Patricia. Never even thought, the colon could be bunched up.
That's exactly how it feels or like a bad case of gas. I can hardly get out of bed it hurts so bad on some days. Then maybe the sitting gets it better.

Patricia,
You mention bowels, mine went south a week after RC. Rosemary told me the Bowels are the last to come back. About 2 weeks ago they started getting somewhat normal about same time I started to getting the pain on left side in the morning. Never put the two together. Could be why it’s not every morning. Still wondering if anyone else had it?

Wendy,
Had my 3-month follow up week and 1/2 ago they did a CT scan of the U.T. and blood test both came out normal this was happening within same time.

Liver on the right side...not much on the left...pancreas and the left kidney. My ureters were stitched down as my complication from my initial surgery was that one of my ureters trapped a section of my small intestine...they had never seen that before...figures i would be the one to have the complication! The pain is very spasmy...but doesn't last long...just a puzzlement which i will report to my surgeon next appt. and he'll probably just scratch his head! Pat
