Nell,

Welcome. I have no idea why I saved this except I was possibly facing an RC 8 years ago and some of these questions are applicable to other surgeries while some of these are simply too involved. Anyway it is attached.

DX 5/6/2008 TAG3 papillary tumor .5 CM in size. 2 TURBS followed by 6 instillations of BCG weekly with a second round of 6 after a 6 week wait.

Sorry you have to be here but welcome Nell. It sounds like you know your questions you just have to sit down and list them. In some situations someone can go into a rehab center after leaving the hospital. Talk to your medical team about getting a visiting nurse if needed. We got a CNA to come to the house for eight hours a day to help out for a few weeks. It was expensive but really was a massive help. There are ways talk to your medical team and make a plan. As far as infections and care instructions they will tell you what you need to look for and what to do. I know this is very overwhelming right now I know I have been there but we all find a way and make it though. And some day you will look back and it will be a memory for the vast majority of us life goes back to normal and we learn to live with our new plumbing. We are here for you I am sure they others will have more to add.

questions to ask was created by bignell
My husband just finished his third cycle of chemo and we meet with the surgeon. Is there a list somewhere to review questions to ask the surgeon. We were told his bladder will need to be removed and they want to build him a neo bladder out of his intestine. We will ask about length of stay, recovery time. Will he have to go to a rehab? They said something about him coming home with a catheter for 3 weeks, will a visiting nurse come to the house? I do not think I am medically capable. I will do my best but I am scared that I might cause more harm. How about infections? I have so many questions. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
