I have a coworker who went through the same thing and he recommended me to his doctor.

Fefenic,
Great! I know Jan. 12 sounds like a long way away, but it is only a couple of weeks. Try to relax and know that you are doing the best things for yourself. Take support wherever you can get it. I was in your shoes this time last year, and though it was a rough holiday, this year I am celebrating. Duke has a great reputation, just make sure your urologist-oncologist is experienced with bladder cancer. I am wishing you the best.

Prayers and good thoughts for the future,
PLK

Hi,
I am on complete agreement with Cynthia and George. The have both been very supportive to me. Get a second opinion with a very experienced doc. I had a radical cystectomy with an Indiana pouch 2 months ago and am now getting back to much of my life. The adjustment is not easy but it is doable. You need a lot of support around you! Take every bit offered! And people are here to listen and support.

You are amongst friends here. We may not be doctors, but we have been where you are now and there is a lot of hope.
Cynthia is right. You may need a second opinion here. This kind of cancer is very sneaky indeed and must be dealt with aggressivly and rather quickly. Now is the time for a Dr that sees a LOT of this. There are protocols for dealing with this.
There are many here who have been right there with you and are living very normal lives after treatment.
Please give Cynthia your general location and she can direct you to a place that has success in getting you cancer free

I know it is very scary, especially if you are trying to tough it out alone. Right now you need a TEAM to help you out. Friends, Family, support group, Spouse.... You need and deserve a supporting cast. Let it all spill out and don't push them away becasuse you dont want to impose. They Want you to Impose!

Please find a Good Dr. One that has seen a LOT of cases and specializes in making this go away.

The best of luck

George

First off take a big breath. Many of us have been where you are terrified, panicked and we have came out the other side. There are times this darn disease is very persistent. Mine was and ten years ago I had a Radical Cystectomy and now have an Indiana Pouch and live a normal life. Yes it was a rough but it is doable. have you thought of getting a second opinion? Experience counts and if bladder cancer is their specialty outcomes and options are both enhanced. What state are you in we might be able to give you some ideas. You are a part of our community now we are here for you.
