The hardest part of voiding is getting the mucas out. It is the first thing to get through and that takes some pushing.

Drink a lot of fluid early in the day. Water or Cranberry juice work for me.

If you find a good schedule for yourself..... You are ahead of the game

Light a man a fire and he is warm for an evening.
Light a man ON fire and he's warm forever.

Thank you. Guess it's good to hear there are no rules.....did you have issues getting things started??

Training a neo is like trying to herd cats! I have had my friend for over 5 years and I have followed the rules and ......... There are no rules.

I am fully dry during the day. An occasional leak here or there. The nightime is another matter completely.

Daytime;
I have tried a 4 hour schedule and sometimes...nothing. Othertimes.... great flow.
I have a tremendous urge.....sometimes nothing. Othertimes...great flow.
I have tried coffee (this used to work everytime before surgery) Cranberry Juice, Beer, Lots and Lots of water. Still no definative schedule, or stream consistency.
Good luck and keep us posted if you come up with a sure fire solution.

Nightime;
I've tried NOT drinking anything.....still getting leakage.
Getting up at assigned intervals.... No Flow. Only to be followed by leakage in bed (a Cruel Joke indeed) Sometime I feel a great urge and get nothing(even with a great push) and sometimes I feel no urge and go a gallon.

But always there is mucas. And That has to get through first before any real flow can occur. I have to push quite hard to fully evacuate but the ultrasound shows that I fully void (that is important)

Finally, as you may have surmized...... there does not seem to be any perfect solution to "training" Just be flexible and keep a positive and adaptable attitude. This will make a difficult adjustment bearable.

thinking of you

54 year old male. Neobladder installed in November. All tubes out early January. Still only getting dribbles. Have to cath to drain. Tests completed - all clear. No medical issues for not going. (I am continent) Any advice for getting a flow going?
