Looks like it is GAME ON! Time to kick some cancer butt!

Collection Procedure: Voided
Date of Collection: 01/30/2013
Histologic Diagnosis Summary: Bladder cancer

FISH REPORT (UroVysion Test)
RESULTS: ABNORMAL
(Reference Range: >4 cells with >2 copies of chromosomes 3, 7 or 17 or >12 cells with zero 9p21 signals)
Total number of cells counted: 25
Number of cells showing gains for 2 or more chromosomes (3, 7, or 17) in the same cell: 6
Number of cells showing zero 9p21 signals: 1

INTERPRETATION
There is evidence of a cell population with aneuploidy commonly found in urothelial cancer.
The UroVysion Bladder Cancer Kit is designed to detect aneuploidy for chromosomes 3, 7 and 17 and loss of the 9p21 locus by FISH in interphase cells of urine specimens from persons with hematuria suspected of having bladder cancer. Results from this test are intended for use in conjunction with and not in lieu of current standard diagnostic procedures, as an aid for initial diagnosis of bladder carcinoma in patient with hematuria and subsequent monitoring for tumor recurrence in patients previously diagnosed with bladder cancer.

The clinical interpretation of these results must be evaluated within the context of the patient's medical history and other diagnostic laboratory findings. Abnormal (positive) UroVysion results in the absence of other signs and symptoms of bladder cancer recurrence may be evidence of other urinary tract related cancers and further patient follow up is justified. If UroVysion results are normal (negative) but standard clinical or diagnostic tests are positive, the standard procedures take precedence over the UroVysion test.

GROSS DESCRIPTION
Received in transport solution, labeled with the patient's name and medical record number, is a urine filled specimen container. Accompanying the specimen container is a request form identifying the patient as

Thank you everyone! You don't know how much you sentiments mean to me. Cynthia, your message is especially helpful because you've had the exact things. I need to take my own advice. I am still cancer free until proven otherwise. Tomorrow I go for my preop work up. Cardio, etc.

The procedure is Monday at 1:40pm.
I will let everyone know.

Mike

Mike,

I'll be praying for the findings to be nothing more than a side effect of the infection. Every so often I get the pain in my left kidney area for no apparent reason. I've had a clean CT Urogram/Cystoscopy a few months ago and haven't seen any blood. My uro says there's mild hydronephrosis caused by scare tissue from the resection causing the pain. He's not too concerned about it now, but in my mind every ache and pain in the GU system has to be a reocurrence of cancer.

Mike-

Your news certainly is worrisome, and then some, but I like what Cynthia posted: hopefully this could be a tempest in a teapot. Can't a bad infection also cause enlarged lymph nodes?

You have been such a "rock" here for so many of us, for so long. And you are such an upbeat, optimistic, forthright, and knowledgeable person. You deserve many more years of cancer-free life to enjoy.

Know that there are many of us out here in the "ether" that are pulling for you with all our might.
