Yeah balance can be another one of the effects of lack of B l2....And you really have to ask for the "Specific B l2 " test......i find the doctors around here kind of pooh poo it...but its real. Sometimes it affects the finger tips and toes.....prickly or burning.........Its a lousy $5 dollar test ...i don't know why they fight it? I remember doing some research many years ago when i was a producer for NBC Young Peoples Specials on dementia and at that time over l/3...yes i said l/3 .. of older people diagnosed with dementia actually had a B l2 deficiency.. Just makes you wonder doesn't it? Pat

thanks Karen. I think it may be topical rather than neural but I'm up for exploring all the options! That baking soda is incredible isn't it?!!!

Thanks Tim for the great site on Baking Soda!
Thanks Patricia for reminding me to remind my Dad to have his B12 checked. He does not have his balance like before the surgery and maybe this is the cause... who knows... but worth a check!
He is having a little numbness in his feet and they get cold as well as his hands. He was worried about diabetes which runs in the family, but I found that this could be a side affect of chemo.
Tim, I hope you solve your prickly sensations.... if I find anything on the internet I'll let you know.

I get them once a month now. diet unfortunately won't work as the only place you absorb or metabolise Bl2 is at the ilial juncture...and the surgeons usually cut that. I found an increasing number of surgeons do not know about the Bl2 connection with the ilium...go figure.........oh well...they're just taught to cut...not figure out what happens where!! I just saw an ad for a Bl2 patch and am wondering about that? I must ask my doctor or perhaps my pharmacist about that.............Pat

Tim..just a thought...have you had a specific B l2 test? I think its called the Shilling test..takes a couple of days to come back. Its a different measurement than just taking the blood to test for all other things. Usually the liver stores the required B l2 for up to 3 years...so they say...but mine went down in about 6 months from 800 something to 270 which was considered almost borderline. I now receive B l2 shots. The ilium which the doctors take in most cases is the point of absorption of B l2. Lack of it can cause all sorts or neuopathy and maybe your symptoms are a warning sign?.... Just ask the doctor to humor you and do the Specific Bl2 test............Pat
