I got the neo and my surgery was 7.5 hours.
The Indiana pouch (IP) takes about the same I believe.

The ileal conduit is the shortest because they are not constructing a new bladder. They still have to create the stoma to attach the bag to though.

Even the IP is pretty much creating a bladder but the don't hook it up to the urethra so that's why it still takes a long time.

I am trying to remember how long the whole thing took. I had a neo bladder installed 3 1/2 years ago and the surgery was indeed almost 9 hours!
While I am always one to say "Wait until the cardiologist give his final opinion" I also believe in a little forward thinking. So I'll have to think of my room mate.

He did not get the neo bladder and he was in surgery for about 2 hours. He had a different form of diversion than a neo. The females on this site almost never opt for neo because it is a pain in the neck for them. Our good friend Mike is another who did not opt for a neo and is living the post cancer life "JUST FINE" without a neo diversion. The neo bladder is not always the answer to normalcy. So, if your Dr. says you are at too much risk for 8 hours of surgery and suggests another diversion....... no sweat. You will indeed be living the normal life just fine.

Sorry for the late arrival to the inquiry. Been busy living the post cancer life. Soon you will be too.

Best of luck

The answer totally depends on the surgeon and his team along with what they foind once they get started.

That said, on an anecdotal basis, I've heard people talk about six hours or so.
Your mileage may vary.

For what its worth, at my initial preop, the hospital did not like something that they saw on my EKG and I ended up running (literally) at the last minute to a cardiologist for a quick evaluation. All was fine and he cleared me for the surgery.
