Having a big turkey dinner today as a matter of fact.

My son's birthday is this coming week and we're celebrating today with a turkey dinner.

We have a family dinner with the kids (grown) and grandkids pretty much every Saturday. Nice to have everyone living in the same town.

Talk to the surgeon about your Indiana Pouch. Be sure he/she is comfortable with that. Since mine is a neo, there was no involvement but your surgeon may need to be concerned with the stoma area.

Thanks for writing back so soon your great!!! It does indeed look like an alien coming out of my belly. I will get a general surgeon ( I know quite a few) that was great advise otherwise I would of used a urology surgeon. I will go to the medical supply store here and pick up a binder. That way I wont do any further damage and my husband can enjoy his vacation without having to drag my sorry butt home for surgery. Mike I read some of your back posts and you sure had your share of problems too after RC but you are so upbeat. You are a great role model!!! Sorry you had to use your Thanksgiving break to have surgery. I hope this year you have a great big turkey dinner!!!

Yes, that sounds the same as what I had. I had a quite a few of them though.

Mine was more like the movie Alien when I lifted my feet up. One man-sized fist in the center that would protrude quite a bit.

A general surgeon is best for fixing those. They do them all the time (more than a urologist surgeon). They can push a mesh inside that helps prevent recurrence. Be very careful lifting.

They can cause problems if not taken care of but it isn't urgent if it isn't causing problems. I scheduled my surgery for a convenient time so I wouldn't miss much work. Meant I had a stick of gum for Thanksgiving but I would have missed a lot more work had I not used the holiday time for surgery and recovery.

In the meantime, get one of those abdominal binders from a pharmacy and use that. It helps keep things together a bit better. Not sure if/how that interferes with your stoma other than having to remove it to cath so you might want to ask Pat or your doctor about that.

Hernias can cause a big problem if not addressed so, while not urgent, not to be ignored either.

Hi everyone I am back with a hernia question
I am in florida on vacation and found a lump above my RC insicion
above my belly button. It is about the size of a small childs fist. It doesnt hurt but when I raise my feet off the bed it does protrude more. Mike if you are out there I remember reading your posts about hernias. Are these the type you had?? Do these always need surgery or do some people hold off and wait and see like inguinal hernias. Can these be repaired with laproscope(sp)??
When I get home in April I will it show Dr Steinberg but Im pretty sure it is a hernia. Urgggg!!!!
