Skin Irritations around stoma?

I have used the vinegar & water when I get any kind of blemish around stoma. I love the Marlin Pouch however, even though my insurances pay for everything, Marlin is more expensive than most of other companies. If I could find a bag that had same adhesive as Marlin I would change but have not found any (but must admit I haven't looked very hard either). The first fire, which was behind the race track was very close [a mile], we live on opposite side of highway 70 up on a hill. The second one was several miles away behind KayBob's Restaurant maybe that is one that got your friend's house --- all departments jumped on that one very quickly and we luckily had some tank planes at airport --- they hit it so quickly that people getting out of way of fire were covered with retardent --- now that is quick. I have about 40 pine trees around my house so if fire gets close I am out of here :-) Good hearing from you --- Keep The Faith!!!

Herb, it’s good to hear from you. I may try the Marlin convex but I’ve had no leaks for about a year. Stoma nurse said I should neutralize the skin with vinegar & water 4/1. Like you. I stopped using adhesive remover except when shaving. I hate that- I need 3 or maybe 4 hands - visibility on lower side is difficult.

I checked when the fires were moving into New Mexico but saw that you were well away from the danger although a friend in Texas lost his home.

I see above that RBH was looking for the Calvion site and I believe it was part of the Hollister web site. I'll check and post better site data.

Wow, it was a year ago when I was in the midst of major skin eruptions. I am happy to say they have been gone for many months now. I thank all who gave suggestions. My procedure for changing pouch (bag): Wash with ivory soap, ( stopped using adhesive remover because I found it hard to remove all traces and it led to leaks), I warm my skin with hair dyer (on low), place bag on warming pad when I am showering, if there is any redness I use small amounts of powder, then I use protective barrier around inner area where a protective ring(Convatec) is applied, then a Marlin 'UltraMax' per-cut convex is applied. I found protective ring and bag after contacting almost all the manufacturers who gladly send samples. I use a ReliaMed foley bag for night-time and works very well. Just wanted to say it was through the support and suggestions of members on this blog that solution was found. Just wanted to make sure I said thanks. Take Care, Herb

Companies change their websites about products all the time so it is hard for anyone to keep up. No worries!

Whenever you hit a bad link on a product like this, try using Google (or Bing, or Yahoo, or whatever search engine you prefer) and put in as much info as you can in the search.

Try Google on "3M no sting barrier film". You will find a ton of places where you can buy and/or read about it.
