Julie..do NOT use anything like a heating pad at all..believe me i learned that one the hard way...blood started oozing out of my suture area.. Always ask your doctor or the stoma nurse.
As for pain around the supra pubic drain i put a little neosporin around it as it had come loose and was quite a nuisance until i got it out which should be soon i would think.
I never took anything stronger than tylenol once home...some stiffness and discomfort is part of the recovery. Once you start the opiates you're just asking for constipation. And again..ask the uro...he did the surgery...he should have a number to call or a stoma nurse to call. Your internist has no idea whats right for you......nor do we.......

Sorry about this problem you're having Julie. I never had a supra pubic drain so I don't know what to tell you.

For general surgical area pain:

Maybe an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen instead of aspirin. Also try heat and try ice alternately. Decide which one seems to work better for you and just use that.

Check with you internist though.

Hope this gets better for you soon!

I'm sorry you're in such pain and discomfort. I don't have anything to offer other than that. I hope someone can offer something constructive, and I hope you're feeling a whole lot better soon.
