Rick,
Conidering you have only had your catheter out for 2 months, you are doing very good.
It took me over three months for day time continence.
I am 16 months post op, and still leak at night.
Not alot, but I still leak.
Personally, I feel it's a small price to pay to be alive, cancer free, and return to doing everthing I did prior to RC.

I went trough 13 weeks of physical therapy for pelvic floor muscles.
You might want to talk to your doctor about that.
Here are some exercise's you may want to try.
You just can't do them for a day, and expect to be good to go.

This whole deal is a test in patients. Nothing comes easy, and nothing is free.
You have to really want to get better, and make sacrifice's to do so.
I did not really feel like this was all behind me for at least a year.
5 months, is not a very long time considering the set backs you had.
Until you stop thinking this surgery was a mistake, you probally won't improve.

Enjoy being alive, Jim

With all due respect to those who have adapted to a life without finding success in gaining full nighttime continence I am writing only to those who have found such success.

My situation is that 5 months out of my surgery I have concluded that having the surgery was likely the biggest mistake of my life. In addition to losing my innate sense of manhood I have had zero success in gaining any night time continence. (Day time is about 95%) I realize I can't go back and remake the decision but I am hoping that gaining night time continence will allow me to regain some self respect.

To clarify, I had a radical surgery with a replacement bladder (neobladder) Due to infections etc my catheter remained in place for 3 months.

I have tried getting up every 2 hours but became exhausted after just a few days so I no longer due that.

I religiously did my kegal exercises for a while with no success.

I am trying to regain some enthusiasm and confidence that I can find success.

Your success stories and ideas would be gratefully received.
