Mary,

My husband went back to work the day after I got home because my MIL lives with us. She did not have to do anything for me, but it was comforting to have her there if there was an emergency. My husband did have to change my dressings before he left and come home a little early to change them again. I had some complications from my wound dehissing (opening back up) so I required that extra care for about 6 weeks.

You will not have to be dealing with that I hope. He will be very tired at first but strength does come back.

Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Mary, Good question. My wife and i are both retired so it was not an issue with us. But i can tell you it was really nice for me to have her help in the morning and evening with tube
cleaning and dressings. I had the tubes in for about another
ten days after coming home from hospital. There are many ways
to work around the schedule, but i bet if you had a week or two
off after your husband came home, he would appreciate all your
help.
Hope all goes well for both of you today!
Duke

I guess I never did require 24 hr care. My wife took the first week I was home off. It was nice to have her there. The second week she went back to work, and just had my mother, and sisters come by for an hour or two. Then I was on my own.
I was off 3 1/2 months. I work for a wonderful company also.

Hey guys how long after you were home did you require 24 hr. care? I'm trying to get a handle on how may days so I can tell my employer.
My husband works for a wonderful company! His CEO told him, "whatever it takes." I'm sure he will be on his work computer as soon as he feels up to it.
