Thanks George for your concern. I did hit the wall yesterday. I did have a friend with me so we went back to our hotel room and I napped from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm. Wow I needed that. My friend stayed 2 nights and it really helped.
My husband is about the same. He still hasn't passed gas so all he can haveis 16 ounces of clear liquid every 8 hrs. He surgical issues are doing great, stents are leaking but all that is to be expected. His major problem is still his right leg. They gave him a nerver blocker yesterday but that hasn't helped. DR. ordered another ultrasound but we haven't gotten the results. The technition said she saw decrease blood flow through his veins. So we are waiting to se whats up. It looks like he will be here through the weekend.

Mary, I have been reading your posts and I wanted to wish you well. Being the patient is difficult. Being the caregiver is even harder. Please take a few seconds and spoil yourself, Even if it is only to go out for a latte.
Don't try to be the superhero. My wife tried and had a small meltdown. She found a great friend who was there just for her. Not the patient.

As time went on this is what got to her. EVERYONE asked "How's George?" They never asked "How are you?" When the first person did, she broke down.

I am sure you are being very supportive and that is great. But I know how hard it is to be the rock!

I wish your patient a quick recovery.
And I ask, "How are YOU doing?"

George

Mary, good to hear from you. Sorry about the complications.
Many times for me the secondary complications become more of a burden then the surgery itselt.
One day at a time. Take care of yourself too.

Update, Yesterday was interesting. PA said that his leg was like pinched nerve ordered PT. The therapist was very young but seemed knowlegable. She got him onto a walker and on his feet. Finally he walked to a chair. He sat in the chair for a long time and 5 family member came to visit. Back to bed then and a very short walk later. Later the leg became very painful. He says surgery pain 3-4 but leg pain 7-8. Dr. was in double back 8 hr. surgeries and didn't make it. He had a fairly good night and looks alert this morning. He has not had anything to eat nor drink, not even ice chips. They will let him chew gum and suck on lifesavers. He is going to try to walk as soon s shift change is over. One constant problem is that his stents keep coming disconnected and they leak. This has happened 6-8 times. I'll add more as the day goes by.

Mary, thanks for letting us know how things are going. Sorry
i never let you know about you spending the night in the hospital. I guess because my wife has always stayed with me in the hospitals, i took it for granted. I have always said i believe the spouse doing the sitting, waiting, and worring has the toughest part.
Wishing you both the best.
Duke.
