Question on neobladder surgery

My ureter stents came out through the suprapubic as well and I had one JP drain. The foley came out at about 3 weeks but unfortunately, my urethra immediately closed due to scarring. Thankfully, the suprapubic cath was in place and has been my drain point ever since. I now clamp it off during the day and drain through it directly to the toilet pretty normally wherever I am.

The urethra scar tissue is right next to the sphincter so the docs are very wary about going in to excise the scar tissue. While they were working on a plan of action, I had additional complications in losing a kidney so now, the ability to directly hook up to a bag for part of the time (for me, at night) is a good thing.

I had a JP drain which came out about day four. 2 kidney stints, one came out about in 10 days, and 17 days for the other. And a Foley catheter which came out after 4 weeks.

That was one happy day when the "dick stick" as I call it, came out.

Now i'm going in for a proceedor, and will have a "dick stick" in for 3 days.........I can live with that.

Yeah, had to have it put back once. Told the dr it was not the most enjoyable experience I have ever had.

I had the NG tube also. It came out too soon and I wound up having to get it put back in TWICE. I always tell people don't let them take it out until they are ABSOLUTELY SURE it will not need to go back in.

You DO NOT want to get an NG tube inserted while awake.

Thanks Pat.

For me, the ureter tubes came out where the catheter did.
I had no suprapubic drain and only had one JP drain.

Like you said: JP drain came out around day 4 for me.
The tubes to kidneys came out around day 10 (I was in the hospital for 12 days).

Catheter: My wife took it out 2 weeks after we were home.

Sounds like there are some differences in how it's done.
