I got a call from Jessica today letting me know that her dad had his neobladder surgery yesterday and is doing well.

They gave him an epidural (which seems to have a good track record for reducing post-op ileus). She was on the way to the hospital to see him this morning but he seemed to be doing well last night.

The surgery was long, there was some sign of cancer at the end of one ureter (so they shortened it) but the doctors said it went very well.

Won't know the pathology on the lymph nodes or bladder but there were significant tumors. Lots of superficial tumors and one tumor was the size of a small lemon.

He's in good spirits today and I talked to her about walking with him. He wanted to walk last night but the hospital staff told him to hold off until today.

Just keeping my fingers crossed that he didn't wait too long and hoping for good news on the pathology reports.

Really glad that she was finally able to convince him to follow up on this!
