So figured it was time for an update since its been a couple weeks.
I think every little bump in the road my dad couple experience he has, just ask Mike! He has been such a huge help, having someone there to call when we have no idea what's going, he helps explain everything (dumb it down, in our case) haha.
So my dad went to the doctor on Wednesday and they said he looks FANTASTIC! This was such good news to hear, that they thought he looked good what just amazing! They said he looks better than any patient they have seen 3 weeks post-op, so we were ecstatic! He's finally getting back into his daily routine and just has to make small adjustments with the bladder and fit in his keegal exercises. He is still having a really hard time controlling the bladder, but he has a ton of patiences and he is just so happy that right now that is all he has to worry about and of course eating a high calorie diet.
He has lost about 15 lbs. since the surgery, but in my opinion he looks better than I've seen him in years. I don't know if it's just the fact that I can look at him now and breath and not have to worry about the cancer or if it's just because maybe I look at him and know he's not worrying about the cancer, either way, God has blessed us in so many ways, and I can't describe how sweet it is to go to bed every night and thank him for what he has done for us and the wonderful care he was giving by his doctors at the VA. Wish I could say the same about the nurses, but Dr. Caillat has been literally a gift from God! Even though he still struggles with the after affects of surgery, we are just so pleased that things are clearing up and now he can start training that new bladder!!
