Duke congratulations you have now had your first locked topic. What that means is that it is getting so long it is hard for people to follow. This post has ran nine pages now and has been viewed over 8,800 times. I am starting another post titled Going for neobladder Dec.15 part 2 and putting this under invasive bladder cancer, it will start where this one leaves off. I would like to see this post go on because it is very useful to others. This post has been a classic case of what this site is all about. It follows you through your Radical Cystectomy the ups and downs. Not only does it contain a lot of good information that others that will come after you need, but just as important it shows that it can be done. It is not easy but the key as you have found is as simple as putting one foot in front of the other until you get where you want to go in this case one step closer to being well again.

Now for the bad news Duke as soon as you are a little better we stop cutting you slack and will put you to work posting to the next person that finds there self needing support here.

Keep up the good work!

Duke, one thing I forgot and probably utmost important about the digestive tract. Walk, walk, walk... I know you may be weak and not feel like it, but every chance you get a spurt of energy walk. I walked round and round the house, up and down the hallway, up and down the stairs. Get up every hour or so and walk. that will help get the bowels going.

You are right Duke. People don't have a clue. I remember thinking, if one more person says, "well, your lookn' good" I was going to scream. It was like, since I didn't look as sick anymore, I was well, and healed. It really took me about 5 months to turn things around, mentally, and physically. I still have "Mental Moments."
Remember, this isn't a race. Everyone heals, and improves differently. But we all share common benchmarks.

No monster George! All the advice i have gotten from this site has been spot on. It has given me a very good idea what to expect, and helped to get me through each day. I can't thank each of you enough. I new to expect the leakage and i'll be fine with it.
I did see in one of Mikes post today, him talking about his neo and drinking beer. That was a beam of needed light for me.
Had last tube taken out today!!!That was very welcome. Still working on getting my digestive track back to normal. That would be very welcome also.
I have been through this so many times before, you would think i would be use to it. But no that is not the way it works, and i new that going in. People on the outside think you have cancer, you treat it with chemo, surgery, etc. and that the end of it. Until you been there you have no idea of all the mental and physical peripheral things that accompany it all, and they seem to be the things that ware you down.
Speaking of the help from this site and peripheral problems. I think back to having bone cancer in '91. There was nothing like this site for help and support. We are very
lucky to have this kind of info.
Thanks everyone. Duke

I think we have created a MONSTER. With all of our good advice, we have created expectations that recovery is a matter of days, not weeks or months.

Stay with it.....leakage is a part of the game. Do NOT let a little distilled water throw you off track.

You will laugh about this bladder control problem in the future. Just roll with it.

George
