Increased viscosity from catheterization

14 years 8 months ago #27192 by mmc
Since I had been having problems completely emptying my neobladder my uro had me start cathing with a 14 french. The self cathing is no problem and pretty easy.

It seems though that the viscosity of the urine has increased greatly since I started cathing. Sometimes when the cath starts going it is just long slow drips for a while (minutes) before getting much normal urine. I always had the mucous but I'm wondering if I should go up to 16 french or try to make bigger holes in the end the 14.

I'm wondering if I may be getting a buildup of the mucous with some residual left over.

Has anybody else run into this and have any suggestions? When I first started doing the catheter, I would empty out in no time and it was just great. Now it seems to take longer and longer to do.

Thanks,
Mike
