I think it all depends on what segment of intestine they use for your neo.

I think most neobladders today use ileum (small intestine) but Indiana pouch uses (or used to use about two feet of the descending colon plus a portion of the ileum).

I don't think colonoscopy is a problem for neobladder if it's only ileum.

Well, Pat that story doesn't exactly make me want to run out and have a colonoscopy.

I had one about 4 years ago (pre neo) and it really wasn't too bad. I wasn't particularly happy about guzzling a 50 gal drum of obnoxious liquid and spending so much potty time that my water bill went up but...... Anyway, they asked me if I wanted to be asleep or awake to see what they were doing. I picked awake and they gave me a little something but I was fully conscious. It was a little uncomfortable and long but overall not bad.

I am now thinking I may want to be asleep for the next one I get. I don't know how much scar tissue I might have but I don't think I want to be awake to find out.

Has anyone else had a pre neo and post neo colonoscopy to compare the differences?

Pat...I knew you could survive even nurse Rachett but your story is rather disconcerting all the same....UGH ! After reading your posting, I don't think I want to do any more colonoscopies. What doesn't scar tissue affect? Please keep us informed as to your progress. Hugs, Melodie

Pat,

Other than the scar tissue, did he find anything troubling while on his safari adventure through your intestines?

Hope this gets resolved for you soon! Did your surgeon pass the torch to someone else for your follow up when he deserted you or did he just ride off into the sunset leaving you stranded?

No better today....talked to the gastro as he now felt i was able to comprehend his actual words....he said what normally takes him 5 minutes to get to where he wants to go took him 45 minutes due to so much scar tissue. Plus he had to change his shirt.....nothing like making it really tough on the surgeon huh?
OK .. add that to late complications ..really really late complications of cystectomy. Pain still intense when i drink even water but good news is its only at a 8 for about l5 seconds and then subsides....so i'm on a liquid diet for ??? I'm not putting food in there thats for sure.
Doc doesn't think its an ileus......hope he's right. I've called my surgeon who deserted me and ran away to USC/Norris and hope he can advise me or at least write me up in one of his papers. I suppose i'll be eating pablum next!
This so SUCKS!
