Hi folks,
I had a 5 cm, stage 2, high grade tcc in the back of my bladder, which was removed (Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa) and replaced with a neobladder about 16 months ago. Nothing was found in the prostate, lymph nodes or in the ct scans, but there was evidence of angiolymphatic invasion.
The last time I was at Moffitt was about 8 months ago. They did more ct scans, but found nothing. I haven't been back because I lost my health insurance, and I didn't want any more x-rays anyway. (Interestingly, my original 5cm tumor was not visible on any of the ct scans which were taken prior to the neobladder operation).
Here is the basis of my question. I was recently at my family doctor for a checkup (he doesn't know anything about neobladders). I've been having some hot flashes (I do have low testosterone), but otherwise I feel great and have lots of energy. He did a normal urine test to look for blood and infections. The urine test came back as positive for blood but not infection. I'm scheduled to see the doctor next week to discuss the results.
My question is: Is it normal for a urine test to show trace blood 16 months after neobladder?
Any info or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dan in Florida
