Pat,
So sorry to hear you are having problems. It does sound like it could be a partial blockage. It comes in waves and builds in intensity. The waves get closer and closer together.
Since my two hospitalizations from blockages, I have had a ocuple/few partials. Actually, the second hospitalization was a partial also. Kind of feels like someone stuck an oven heating element in there and turned it on, then off for a few minutes and then back on for a few seconds, rinse, repeat.
Pain meds help and also slow down the intestines so they aren't so aggressive about trying to push through the blockage so that helps to reduce the cause of the pain.
Thing is, a partial blockage "should" show up on a CT. At least it did for me. For mine, they are right at the staple area where my intesine was reconnected so the pain is dead center just a bit above my navel. Since you have Indiana it could be your staples are a bit off center.
The bowel sounds I had were a lot like a creaky pirate ship. Even my doc described them that way. It's trying to push through but can't.
All that said, my description just covers IF it was a blockage. You definately have the right idea getting yourself someplace where they can check the ureters and everything else!
Hope you get this taken care of quickly and that the pain was just a one time deal that helped you find out about the narrowed ureters early so it could be taken care of. One of those "lucky coincidences".
Mike
