Thanks Gordon.......but with the neo i don't think they take the ileocecal valve? Thats the stop sign......how will he know he's there.....?????????
I'm definately rethinking all of this...i think i'll go eat a pizza and a hot fudge sundae and just let my own intestines figure it out........

Pat,

I had a colonoscopy after my neo-bladder (about 4 years out). No problems. And, best of all I got a clean bill of health. I told the doctor about the neo-bladder. He didn't seem to think it was a big deal. I forgot to ask him what he saw.

Hope all goes well for you.

Mike,
I to have a medic alert bracelet that no one has ever taken a look at. In fact I only wear it when I am traveling now just in case. Of course since they never ask about it, I doubt it will help. I bet they wold never look at the tatoo either.:woohoo:

Pat,

Call the doctor and tell him your concerns. Better safe than sorry. Hope everything is resolved soon.

Char:kiss:

P.S. get better so we can see each other in Kentucky. Or I will drive to you.

I have a Medic Alert bracelet that says I have a neobladder and to catheterize every 4-6 hours. I've been in the hospital three times since getting it and nobody has ever asked me about it.

I guess since I've been conscious every time they assumed I would just tell them, but I hope somebody does check if there is ever a case when I'm not.

My guess is I would just leak all over the place anyway once I was over capacity, but still, seems like they should pay attention that stuff.

When I did go to the hospital, I brought my own condom catheters though and just asked them to give me a bag to hook up. That confused a few of them. :) Guess they thought I was just lazy and didn't want to get up. Had to tell them I have a neobladder.

Mike

So, folks with the Indiana, you might want to consider a large print tattoo with instructions near where they might try to cath you if they don't know (since medicalert probably won't work).

Pat, I'm so sorry that you are going through so much right now.

I know that you don't like the idea of a foley - you once said its an invitation for an infection. But when I was going through chemo they infused so much liquid there would be no way to keep up with it. The foley worked great. The only caveat is that there has to be a nurse who is diligent in making sure it doesn't get clogged up.

I'm preparing now for my cataract surgery. Although its a short procedure I am going in and everyone is going to know about my world and what needs to happen.

I hope that you get some relief and answers soon.

Hugs,
Gracie
