Bowel movements

IrishGuy,
I had very similar problems. I had my RC June 2007. Even though I have an Illeal Conduit, they still use the intestine (Actually they tried to do a Neo, had problems so they had to switch to Illeal Conduit. So I had two sections of intestines taken out).

I had the bowel movement problems and then in June 2008 I had my gall bladder removed (now I have no more bladders). This compounded my bowel problems.

The good news: I change my exercise program and my diet completely (Jan 2009) and now I am regular.

I cut out red meat, sweets (pastries, ice cream, and candy), and pop (diet Coke and Diet Pepsi).
The red meat cut out was recommended by my doctor for the missing Gall Bladder contribution.

Exercise is now 60 minutes a day six days a week.

This combo is what finally worked for me.

Take Care
Rick

IrishGuy,

I made a similar post a month ago. Seems to be that intestinal resection is part of the issue and some folks have suggested keeping a food and drink log and then including bowel issues. The log will help with identifying foods that are the most likely offenders.

I've not done the log but I have the same issue. Some days things are just fine. Some days VERY loose stools and some days many bowel movements with pretty loose stool.

For me, I think coffee and dairy products are the most likely contribitors.

Hi Forum,

This is my first time posting on this new forum. Had my (Neo) RC in Aug ’07 and am doing quite well now. It works very good and is fully continent. However, since my op, bowel movements have always been pretty erratic. I sometimes can go up to five or six times a day mostly passing soft stools. I think diet is the key issue here, and am still finding out which foods are good and which are not. Has anyone on this forum had similar problems?

Thanks in advance.

Winning the battle :-)
