Try the following search string in google:

neobladder survival rate

It comes back with quite a few studies. A few point back to the same study I mentioned a minute ago (which I think may be flawed in its comparisons).

Mike

Age 54
10/31/06 dx CIS (TisG3) non-invasive (at 47)
9/19/08 TURB/TUIP dx Invasive T2G3
10/8/08 RC neobladder(at 49)
2/15/13 T4G3N3M1 distant metastases(at 53)
9/2013 finished chemo -cancer free again
1/2014 ct scan results....distant mets
2/2014 ct result...spread to liver, kidneys, and lymph...

I found this study:
cat.inist.fr/?aModele=afficheN&cpsidt=2247428

My interpretation of the study is different from the study. My view is that the sooner you get the cystectomy/neobladder, the better the survival rate.
The study kind of compares neo-bladder to ileal conduit and gets much better survival rates for ileal conduit.

But it also had a much longer wait time between cancer discovery and the surgery for ileal conduit.

Also, people who are candidates for neobladder may be in a better situation for longer term survival than those who aren't.

This question has been ringing around in my head for a while and I never asked it. Not to my doctor or to this group.
It has been 7 months with mine and all seems well at the moment. Every once in a while I wonder if things will worsen or change. But, I usually put this out of my mind as I don't want it to throw me into a funk.
My doctor seems to feel that my issue with bladder cancer is on a permanant mend....But he still wants to see me every 6 months...Just because he likes me he says.

Light a man a fire and he is warm for an evening.
Light a man ON fire and he's warm forever.

08/08/08...RC neo bladder
09/09/09...New Hip

Have just remembered that when I was facing my neobladder op I was put in touch with a lady who had had one done in 2000. I assume she is still ok.
