Been there done that… sorry you have this to deal with. The good news for you sounds like they caught it before the kidney was damaged. In my case it happened at first gradually then very fast and by the time we figured out the ureter was completely blocked that was not the case, be happy your Uro is being proactive.
The neph tube is tedious (hate to keep using that word but it works) but is not that big of a deal. If we have had a RC we know about dealing with tubes. I had them put an extension on the tubing so that I could flush it myself but if they tie yours into to your super pubic that will not be an issue for you. I think the thing that bothers me most is that I have to have someone else change the bandage covering it as it is on my back and I cannot reach it.
When you go to interventional radiation they using a CT scan to put the tube in it was interesting to watch the proceedings on TV as well as when they put in the die. By the way there was no real discomfort when they actually did the neph tube.
