What is this?

I am about to go for my 3 month checkup too. As the date approaches I have this exact fear. After surgery, I was given a clean path report. Since then I have recovered very well. Now, I have developed a pain in my right leg and hip that makes me limp considerably. As the date approaches, I get more and more apprehensive about what is going on.
I visited my regular doctor last week and he ordered an x ray (I had some hip pain before all of this). He tried to console me by saying that even though you go through something extraordinary, normal things can still happen.
I am hoping, for you and for me, that these things are ordinary.

Thanks, Cynthis, for taking the time to look up his email address. After thinking this over carefully and reading some of the posts here, I really don't think Dr. Bochner would have me wait if he thought I was in immediate danger. When I first saw him, he had my TURB scheduled within a week and my surgery was 3 weeks later. He does not wait around. CT scans can show all different things and the nurse did tell me that it was probably from the surgery.

My pathology reports showed everything clean outside the bladder and even the bladder only had low grade cells, not the high grade I had in the beginning. That amazed both me and Dr. Bochner. I am still happy I had the surgery. Since I had interstitial cystitis too, I can truly say that my life is better without my bladder than before. Unless you have experienced 30-40 bathroom trips a day, you can't imagine my happy I am now. I can even sleep through the night with my night bag!! Something I haven't been able to do since I was a teenager.

Pat, I really don't know how much of the vaginal wall was taken during surgery. He did not mention that at all so I was assuming none but I cannot be certain of that.

I am coming to terms with this. I am not going to worry and waste 2 months of my life doing that. Thanks for all of your concerns.

Bali...was the vaginal wall taken during your cystectomy? I don't know after 6 yrs of CTs i've had everything from fatty liver (NOt)...gallbladder stones (NOT).....floppy bladder (NOT).....maybe request another pathologist look at it? Thats what i usually do.

Nancy,
I checked for his email and it is not listed on his biography page. Some doctors use email and some do not I have three that do and it really does simplify the situation if you have a quick question. It looks like you will have to leave a message that you need to talk to him but you might ask him if he does email and if so what is the email addresses. A lot of what we run into with test results tend to be situations that time will clarify and they wait to see what the next set of CT's show as far as change. An infection or benign inflammation can look suggestive on one scan and be gone the next And that is probably what Dr. Bocnher is doing here but it would be nice if you could talk to him about it. I would hate to see you worry yourself sick for two months. You would think that after dealing with blc for over four years it would have taught me some patience but it has not happened yet so I do understand.

Nancy, sorry to hear that you are distressed with your recent results.
Although it is still worrying, you know your doc is very experienced and you trust him. Try and stay positive and go with what the doc says, I doubt he would wait 2 months if he was in any way concerned. However, if you notice any changes it would be best to make contact with him to discuss. You are only 3 months post op and your body is in the very early stages of recovery.
I hope you are able to enjoy the Holidays.
Maria xx

Cynthia,
Emailing Dr. Bocnher is a great idea. Do you know his address or how I could get it? I often email the ostomy nurse and get immediate replies. This seems easier than a call especially at this time of year.
Thanks, Nancy
